Description

 

We are seeking an experienced Tax Manager to lead and manage the tax practice in our San Diego / La Jolla Office. This individual will be responsible for managing compliance and consulting engagements, including the delivery of high-quality work product, client communication and billing. This individual would serve as an adviser to our clients, aiming at maximizing engagement and achieving qualitative outcomes.

Responsibilities

 
  • Demonstrate strong technical knowledge of individual, partnership, and corporate tax planning, consulting and compliance.
  • In-depth interaction and communication with the partners and clients, regarding complex tax and accounting matters.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in advanced technical and research skills, necessary for advising clients.
  • Responsible for the efficient, accurate, complete and timely preparation of clients’ tax returns.
  • Efficiently delegates work to the various tax staff, as necessary.
  • Serve as the primary engagement manager and manages projects to ensure that the client is presented with technically-accurate and a high-quality product representative of the firm’s commitment to excellent client service.
  • Build client relationships, demonstrate knowledge of client business, and work closely with clients to advise on tax issues and planning.
  • Respond to tax authorities on behalf of client and assist with tax audits.
  • Performs all tasks related to client services within budgeted time.
  • Demonstrate competency in technical skills, work quality and application of professional and firm standards.
  • Mentor, supervise and train tax staff and seniors through guidance and coaching.
  • Assist with employee training for new hires and ongoing employee training.

 

Qualifications

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

 
  • CPA Certification required.
  • Good oral and written communication.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, ProSystem fx Tax, Engagement and QuickBooks.
  • Education and Work Experience
  • CPA Certification required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting (or similar course work) required.
  • Minimum of six years of experience preparing all types of tax returns with a public CPA firm or private company.
  • Minimum of two years reviewing all types of tax returns and compiled financial statements with a public CPA firm or private company.
