Trust Tax Supervisor

 

Outsourcing  Department Team Responsibilities:

 

 

The Outsourcing Tax Department is responsible for the preparation & filing of fiduciary, estate, generation skipping, gift, charitable and tax exempt entity tax returns and informational filings such as 1099 & 5498’ s.   This includes the payment of estimated and balance due tax payments to the various Taxing Authorities.   Communicating with tax clients, advising  & consulting with  operational groups.  Responsible for  Master Limited Partnership (MLP) and Out of State Municipal Income (OSMI) reporting.  Responsible for identifying and processing wash sales, return of capital and other cost basis adjustments.  Responsible for the review and   establishment of amortization and accretion models. 

 

Trust Operations Supervisor – Primary Function and Duties

 

Primary Function:

 

Coordinate, direct and control the operations and activities of the Outsourcing Tax Department. The position will be required to: Meet departmental deadlines in the most cost-effective manner while maintaining quality standards to deliver the best product to the customer; Resolve non-routine problems through direct communication with other departments, client administrators and taxing authorities as necessary; Provide management & clients with necessary reports as required. The position is subject to review by area management relative to performance of its supervisory functions.

 

Duties:

 

·         Ensure various tax deadlines are met to avoid penalties

·         Review various tax output documents to ensure accuracy

·         Research Federal and State tax code to verify proper filing of tax returns

·         Develop, implement, and monitor yearly departmental goals and objectives

·         Determine overall employment resources needed in the functional area

·         Responsible for interviewing and hiring Outsourcing Tax personnel in order to meet the needs of the Outsourcing Tax Team due to volume growth,   turnover or business need

·         Handle employee disciplinary activities

·         Provide assessment of current functionality within department

·         Conduct annual performance appraisals for staff

·         Administer annual merit increases, career progression and other salary adjustments with staff

·         Responsible for overall procedures and work flow for the Outsourcing Tax area

·         Develop and maintain  departmental morale

·         Direct client contact regarding customer issues

·         Develop and monitor departmental quality, quantity and productivity measurements

·         Provide training presentations to staff and other employees

·         Implementation and administration of defined employee career path plan

·         Open communication with other department management to resolve issues, and recommend suggestions for improvements
