Senior Accountant - Tax Department
QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES
Senior Accountant should have an undergraduate (or 5 year) degree and should have 3-7 years of tax experience working with closely held businesses and their owners. The Senior Accountant is a learned professional with primary duty of the performance of work requiring knowledge of an advanced type in the field of Accounting. Accountant is ready to assume responsibilities of Senior Accountant.
PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
- CPA highly preferred or short term plan to obtain it, tax return review experience a plus
- Adhere to professional ethics of Firm, AICPA and Nevada Society of CPAs
- Maintain professional attitude, behavior and appearance
- Adhere to Firm policy regarding client confidentiality
- Take personal initiatives to develop career path
- Adhere to Firm’s administrative policies
- Meet chargeable hour goal
CLIENT SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for managing client assignments and projects and delivering high quality service to clients
- Work should be completed on a timely basis
- Demonstrate professional interest in providing clients with quality services and personal attention by performing “above and beyond the call of duty,” if necessary
- Assist other members of the firm to satisfy clients
- Effectively communicate with clients, as required
- Know services that SAB provides
- Identify client issues and client service responsibilities
- Perform any tasks necessary to satisfy clients
- Gain client confidence through quality work and effective communication
- Keep immediate supervisor informed as to status of work
- Plan, organize and use time effectively
- Bill for services as requested by partners or managers
- Meet budget and utilization goals and supervise staff accountants for meeting budget goals
ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform administrative tasks as assigned
- Complete timesheets in a timely manner
- Participate in staff and intern recruiting activities
- Work closely with partners, managers and staff
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct research and prepare memorandums dealing with tax matters
- Performs and documents accounting services to include recording journal entries, general ledgers, reconcile bank accounts and other general ledger accounts as necessary, prepare payroll and sales tax returns, prepare property tax returns and prepare all types of financial statements with minimum supervision
- Apply basic accounting and auditing and tax knowledge to more complex and multiple projects
- Improve technical skills through CPE, personal commitment and on-the-job training
- Follow directions, complete tasks and review points with minimal supervision in a timely manner
- Read current developments, pronouncements and research technical issues
- Identify problem areas and client issues and propose solutions to managers and partners
- Be proficient in use of computers and become proficient with Firm utilized software
- Effectively wrap-up engagement
- Identify value added suggestions from audit and reviews for client utilization
- QuickBooks experience helpful
MARKETING RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist other Firm members as requested
- Become involved in at least one outside civic, social or professional activity
- Become proactive in developing referral source network
- Become involved in the proposal process, as requested
- FLSA: Learned Professional exemption
