SENIOR AUDITOR

Currently seeking a Senior Auditor who is interested in being part of a fast paced learning environment. The successful candidate will have 2-4 years of recent experience in public accounting/auditing. A CPA candidate with audit experience in a large local CPA firm is highly desired. The Senior Auditor is responsible for the orderly completion of engagements including the day-to-day supervision of assistants, making the initial determination as to whether or not the engagement objectives have been met, and keeping the manager(s) and partner(s) informed of progress and unusual developments.  The Senior Auditor will make the initial evaluation of the internal control structure, draft the work program and assist the manager(s) in preparing time and engagement budgets.

 

 Essential Functions:                       

  • Regularly assess the status of department assistant’s work, review their progress and answer questions.

  • Monitor time spent on engagements, and, when required, propose to the manager any necessary modifications in the engagement work plan.

  • Responsible for the day-to-day, on-the-job training of assistants and concluding the engagement in an efficient manner.

  • Responsible for the detailed review of all working papers and the disposition of all follow-up items during the wrap-up of an engagement.

  • Review and approve all drafts of financial statements and accountants’ reports prior to review by the manager(s) and/or partners(s).

  • Prepare workpapers and finacial statements (B/S, I/S, SCF) with full disclosures.

  • Responsible for coordinating the timely involvement of other firm personnel such as EDP and tax specialist and pre-issuance reviews.

  • Prepare written review of Staff Accountants, Semi-Senior Staff Accountants and Administrative Assistants in the department.

  • Record bookkeeping transactions and client accounting assistance.

  • Inquiry and analytical review.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:            

  • Solid understanding of industry specific audit issues relating to NFP organizational issues and attest services in any of the following areas; financial statement audit, regulatory compliance, due diligence and structuring, process and controls, or assertions and agreements.

  • General knowledge of FASB regulations and GAAP

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of previous experience supervising and training Staff and Senior Accountants.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Presentation skills and strong organizational techniques are required

  • Highly motivated.

  • Capable of managing multiple client engagements in addition to completing tasks related to business development.

  • Able to attain visibility and recognition within your industry specialization and in your local market.

  • Time management /budgeting and supervision skills.

 

Minimum Position Qualifications:  .

  • EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in Accounting and CPA required; Master's degree in Business Administration or Taxation a plus.  LL.M. in Taxation a plus.

  • EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 2-4 years of experience gained within a public accounting firm.

  • LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Certified Public Accountant license required.

 

Preferred Position Qualifications: 

  • Working knowledge of MS Office (primarily Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel)

  • Knowledge of time record keeping software (Practice Solutions) a plus
