Job Description


San Francisco-based boutique CPA practice looking for an experienced Accounting Tax Manager with 5+ years of tax experience (audit experience a plus).

The Firm offers a full range of audit, accounting, taxation, advisory, and compliance services for a wide variety of businesses and their owners and serves a broad spectrum of securities funds, private-equity and venture capital firms, real estate firms, and high-net-worth and ultra high-net-worth individuals.

Responsibilities for Tax Manager:
  • Review complex U.S. and multi-state income tax returns for business entities
  • Review complex U.S. and multi-state individual income tax returns, gift tax returns and estate tax returns
  • Prepare and review complex tax planning projections for individuals and business entities
  • Effectively research and discuss tax and estate planning ideas, income tax matters, and potential tax problems with clients
  • Manage and monitor client deliverables and due dates
  • Respond to IRS and state agency audits, inquiries and tax notices
  • Perform extensive tax research for complex matters and prepare detailed reports, outlining findings and conclusions
  • Mentor and supervise staff through training, providing guidance and direction
  • Build trust with clients and foster collaboration and a team environment through open communication, responsiveness, and a commitment to excellent service

Qualifications for Tax Manager:
  • Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Accounting or Taxation
  • CPA license
  • 5+ years of tax experience, including recent experience at the manager-level
  • Flexible start date
  • Demonstrated leadership, problem solving, and strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work on multiple assignments in a fast-paced accounting environment
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with professionals at all levels
